Meet Bryna, BD

“I started my journey knowing I wanted to help people feel their best any way I could. Whether it be helping them keep up a healthy lifestyle or making them laugh and smile when they are down. I had been raised around a daycare and love children of all ages. I have been blessed to have run my own Daycare as I got older. During this time, I decided to become a Massage Therapist and went to CNI Collage in Orange, CA to help people feel better after a long day of work or feel great on a pamper day!

After working as a Massage Therapist for two years, I knew I wanted to get my Certificate in Prenatal and Postnatal Massage. So, I did, and I love helping Mothers feel their best and understand what it goes on and how they are feeling with each month.

Soon after this, my niece and her husband announced they were expecting their first baby! I was so excited! So, I thought to myself the next step in my career journey is helping them with their pregnancy and delivery of their baby!

Shortly after, I started looking into becoming a Midwife and different methods of Birthing Techniques. I fell in love with the Bradley Method. I had a great instructor that asked if I thought about becoming a "Birth Doula"? I hadn't heard of a Birth Doula until she shared who these amazing women are with me. Being a Massage Therapist would benefit me as a Birth Doula because the moms really need their massages. With all the changes their body can go though in the 9 months of pregnancy, Mother needs pain relief and relaxation.

I found a great teacher in Irvine, CA for my Birth Doula training. Our training was held at South Coast Midwifery in Irvine, CA. South Coast Midwifery not only held training classes there, but they also had a Birth Doula Internship which I joined into as soon as there was a spot open. Before I started my internship with South Coast Midwifery my niece had her first daughter with the midwives at South Coast Midwifery and I was able to be her Birth Doula. I fell in love with Doula work right then! In the 6 months following I was doing my internship and I was blessed with 13 clients and a few more bonus clients that helped kick off my journey of becoming a CD (DONA) Birth Doula.

Fast forward 10 years and I have helped 30 births with a 6 year gap to raise my own 2 kids. I’m back at it, now I’m Certified as a Labor Doula with ProDoula and I have Joined the amazing doulas at Momentous Doula Care.”
